Wind Tunnel Testing | Project Sierra Log#2

Image
The wind tunnel had its first successful test!! On the 21st of January 2023 at 3:17 pm Project Sierra had its first successful test where I tested the aerodynamics of a model of a Lamborghini Aventador and a Bugatti Divo. After the initiation of the project’s construction back on October 6th, 2022 it has been a long wait for the required parts, but it was Worth It!! In all honesty, the Lamborghini did not test well even though it definitely looked like the better of both models, aerodynamics-wise. Granted there are definitely a lot of modifications needed to make the wind tunnel run to an optimal level. The following are the improvements currently being made: I’m currently 3D printing a stand to raise the test model to a level, where the test model will be in the middle of the test chamber to receive the most pressurised air Higher and stronger support for the wind tunnel as the current support nearly collapsed after testing To find the optimal RPM of the fan (I can adjust it thanks to...

I made my very own CFD Software!! | Project Zephyr

Image
Project Zephyr is a CFD software I created using Blender's Particle Physics, Collision, Flow Dynamics Software. It uses the method developed by Joseph-Louis Lagrange to test the amount of drag generated by an object. The Files will be made Open-Source and available to the public. I will be making a tutorial on how the Software would work along with what the user can change to test different things. Alright! Time to rant! Project Zephyr is an extension of Project Sierra, as anyone in the car industry would tell you they use CFD Software to first, digitally test their designs before heading to a wind tunnel facility. Hence I decided to do the same. Yesterday I spent a good few hours trying to download a free CFD software called Openfoam which required me to make a virtual machine that ran linux, which was a pain in my ass! as Ubuntu(the software I was using to make the virtual machine) kept telling me that there was an unexpected error. After an Hour I was able to create the linux vi...

Ahhhhh! Korean Ramen, is one of the hottest Asian dishes. It has everything your palette craves, it has fresh herbs to give liveliness, meat for your more naughty desires, caramelised onions for the sweetness, and the classic half-cooked egg for the nirvana-like syrup that is the yolk. I do have a confession though, when I say authentic, I don't mean I made the ramen from scratch, cause that would take too long and I really don't have that much time!! so it's more like I cooked ramen that came in a packet but all the toppings so to speak are made by me at home. Great now let's Start with the recipe on how to make this lovely treat! First, chop up some onions in a ring-like manner and make sure they are no thicker than 0.5 cm (I mean approximately don't actually use a scale to measure) as that way they can actually caramelise properly. Then finely chop some coriander leaves, this is optional I just feel like it gives some extra colour and gives a little b...

Project Sierra | Update Log#1

Image
For Those of you who haven't read my previous post, PROJECT SIERRA is a wind tunnel I am developing to test out prototype car designs for my company. You can click the link below to see the blueprint and read about the necessary calculations i took to start the project: https://www.the-weekend-innovator.com/post/the-wind-tunnel-project-project-sierra As some of the parts for the wind tunnel have recently arrived (The electronics) I decided to test them to see if I could get a streamlined flow of air through the fan. I soldered the necessary wiring to the DC booster and the fan that way I could regulate the fan speed to get optimal results, and I must say the results were much better than I had expected as since the tunnel was still not ready I had to test the fan in the open which means that turbulent outside air could effect the test. Nonetheless, the results speak for themselves, I was able to get the streamlined effect but the smoke was unable to move along the car for a long ti...

The Wind Tunnel project | Project Sierra

Image
As some of you know, my main goal in life is to launch multiple companies and head them as their CEO one of those companies is a car company. I started working on it when I was 10 years old with my best friend and a person who at that time, I thought was my best friend. 1 week into the project, the supposed best friend stole all our blueprints for the design of the car and the diagram for the battery pack we had in mind for the car and didn't have any intention of returning it. My current best friend who was also part of the project quit after a month, as he wasn't motivated enough. This brings us to the present where I finished the entire remodeling of the car to make it as aerodynamic as possible, but simulations can only test so much without turning my computer into a ticking time bomb. So, since I got a 3d printer for my 17th birthday i decided to make a small wind tunnel, to test out a print of the car and see where i need to run any corrections. I realised that this metho...

Prudent Motorsports Advanced Karting Program

Image
The Prudent Motorsports Racing Program is the best beginner racing program I have ever attended in my life as I still think about my experiences there!! The program was hosted on August 24th-27th at Meco Kartopia which is a 1.2km track, it was an absolute blast especially with our hands on coach Mr.Abhishek who has helped increase my pace and significantly drop my lap times throughout the program. The program absolutely blew past my expectations right on day 1. Day 1 On day 1,i got to meet the other participants and started to understand a little more about how this program was going to work as on most training programs, in different activities usually involves mostly or in some cases only theory which always bores me to death, so i expected nothing less of prudent.I expected us to simply learn about breaking points, the racing line, regulations and such but our coach had a very different idea for us. He stunned me by his more practical approach where he asked us to get into ou...

An award from an Astronaut!!

Image
I got awarded a medal by a literal astronaut!! On July 23rd 2022, my team and I got awarded the silver medal for winning the "Are you (w)right?" Competition at the Human Space Flight Expo by Rakesh Sharma who is the first and only Indian astronaut. The competition was an aeromodelling competition where my team and I were given 3 hours to model, design, and construct a working glider. Anyway about the actual awards ceremony, to summarise I wanted to kill myself!! It has got to be one of the biggest waste of time (other than the 1 minute I actually spoke to Rakesh Sharma on stage). My team and I were told to arrive at 12 noon when the actual ceremony started at 3 pm as that was when Rakesh Sharma finally arrived. We had to sit through 6 speeches that basically stated the same thing but were worded differently. Then we were told we would get a chance to ask Rakesh Sharma some questions, but they literally only let kids who were below the age of 10 ask anything!! EVEN THOUGH THER...
